Chilli Padi Restaurant.. Promotion after renovation !!

I got to know from a client that Chilli Padi is offering a 50% discount on all food and drinks as promotion after renovation for 3 days which is 28th, 29th and 30th September. As the place is really near my office, we decided to have our lunch there on the later 2 days to enjoy this special promotion.
To my surprise, big crowd was there to queue for seat. For both of the days, we waited for at least half an hour for the table and another half an hour for the food to be served. Due the crowd, the operation of the cafe is kinda messy. Wrong order, omission, wrong bills.... everything is possible.

For the first day, I ordered a fish and chips set at a nett price of RM5.90. Worth it!! My colleague ordered a seafood fried rice and juice. She had the food and drinks. Upon payment, the cashier at the front counter argued that we didn't order any drinks and insisted that we only need to pay for the food. Fine!! We just treat the drinks as a free gift then.

For the second day, I ordered a chicken chop set at a nett price of RM5.90. Worth it!! Worth it!! My colleague ordered the same with a iced chocolate blend. Upon serving, the waiter handed us 2 sets of chicken chop and 2 iced chocolate blend. She insisted that these are our order. As a result, I tried the iced chocolate blend in the cold cafe..... cool!! Upon payment, again the weird cashier argued that we only ordered one iced chocolate blend and again she insisted to collect the money for one iced chocolate blend only. I was the one to get the 'free gift' this round.

A 50% promotion plus some major and minor error around, I estimated that the cafe might make a loss in these 3 days... hehe!! Now I realise why the big crowd were willing to wait.... it's for the 50% discount plus free gift...hahaha!!

Last but not least... the 'free gift'!!

Lunch @ Societe Cafe

RM10*10pcs of Meal voucher of YTL Group of Company. As a shareholder of the group, my family are given these as yearly reward during its AGM. Yupe... still holding their shares since few years back in huge paper loss condition.... :(

Societe Cafe & Wine Bar. Situated in Lot 10 Shopping Mall. This is our choice this year and this is also the first time we were there. Tried to search online on the comments for the food but failed with zero review result..... weird!!

The environment is quite comfortable with all the 80's song being played. We can chat, eat and enjoying the songs. But personally think that is a bit funny for family lunch there.

The set up..... while waiting for the serving of the food................

My order : Hainanese Chicken rice set and fruit juice.
Nothing to shout about on the food. No offence but still feel that Non-halal restaurant serves the best chicken rice generally. The juice is good....

Dessert time : ABC special.... with a scoop of ice-cream
Ohh...... Cool!!! My favourite of the day.... Yummy yummy!!!!!!

Everyone is TRYING to enjoy the food>>>>

Dear all.... are we sure we are on diet??

Ever since I stopped my gym life, i put on weight seriously. Too lazy for me to jog at park, may be I'm not ready for that yet. I mean I'm not ready to wake up at 7.00am at the morning on weekends to exercise in the park at Sri Petaling LRT Station.

Not only me, my whole family is gaining weight recently.... they are doing exercise regularly but still unable to lose weight effectively. So, we decided to control our diet. We won't skip our meal of course, instead we will eat lesser on each meal.... sort of '少吃,多餐' = spreading the food to more meals.

Can we do that?? I don't think so..... it's proven!!
Before.................. 5 Dishes for 5 pax

Lunch at Star Village @ Kuchai Lama

This is not the first time I have my lunch here. My last experience implied that there was room for improvement for this restaurant. Anyway, we decided to give it another try today. Since it was the lunch hour, I decided to order their set lunch, RM7.90++ which comes with main course, drink and ice-cream.

I ordered sweet sour fillet rice, hot lemon tea and chocolate ice-cream. Really satisfied with the set lunch this rice. The portion is presentably big enough and quality of the food is rated above average. Thumbs up!!

Some games to kill the waiting time..........

Which one is better??

鸡丝河粉 of Old Town Kopitiam

鸡丝河粉 of Chilli Padi Cafe Restaurant

I tried this same food at 2 different places this week. Both of them situated at Kuchai Lama and have the similar pricing. The second 'looked' nicer than the first but in my opinion, the first is a lot more delicious than the second... hehehe!!

Dinner @ Empurau Restaurant

Was invited by Alice to join her for dinner again. She recommended Empurau Restaurant (formerly known as Chuai Heng Restaurant) at Kuchai Lama. Reason being the restaurant is doing a promotion now on 50 dishes with RM9.00 nett each. Kinda cheap as the dishes include prawn, pork, venison, squid, chicken.... wide range of choices.

We ordered fried squid, chicken in pot, mix vege and prawn. 4 dishes for 3 person. As usual we ended up unable to finish the food again. However, the food served here not only with reasonable price but also yummy yummy!!! The environment is good and comfortable. Since Alice knows the chef well, the chef served us fruits in f.o.c. So good.....!! Hehehe...

I'll go there again with my family once I'm free as the food there is really worth. The rice is charged at RM1.50 per bowl. Titbits and tea are priced at RM3.00 respectively. Our bill goes to RM49.50. Really reasonable.... Must try other food next time.

Lunch at Tony Roma's @ The Gardens

Since I am conducting a statutory audit at The Gardens North Tower today, decided to have lunch at Tony Roma's of The Gardens. This is my first visit and I ordered their promotion set lunch of roasted garlic and rosemary chicken.

The mentioned set comes with main course, salad, french fries, bread, refillable drinks and soup of the day. I personally think that it's really really worth to have lunch there. The whole set costs me RM19.50, tax inclusive. The portion is really really huge!! This is a good place with nice environment for lunch once a while... coz cannot afford to have lunch here everyday!!

Bumped with my ex-colleague, Catherine Kim during my course of audit at the Secretary Office before the lunch. She is working at BDO Binder currently. She still looked the same as previously... cool and steady. We chatted for 1-2 minutes before she left the office.

Dinner @ Shogun of Sunway Pyramid

Last Thursday was not anybody's birthday and there was nothing special to celebrate also. But our beloved client Alice, who is also my neighbour gave my colleague and I, a generous treat at Shogun of Sunway Pyramid.

We planned to go Tenji at Mont' Kiara initially but after checking the dinner pricing, we decided to have our dinner here as Tenji is charging around RM88++ whereas Shogun is charging RM58++. Both also Japanese buffet restaurant and i never been to any of it as I'm not a big fan of japanese buffet. Anyway since Alice insisted to treat us, must give her face also. After office hour, we straight away headed to the said restaurant.

From my personal point of view, it is a nice place to have dinner. The environment is comfortable. A variety choices of food are served here. My favourite would be their tempura... taste good!! Yummy yummy!! The rest of food also not bad. Alice commented that I ate less. In fact I purposely ate porridge as my lunch in order for me to eat more for dinner. But... she still said I ate less lo. What to do...... my stomach too small for buffet maa.

We have a great chat there. Nice chatting with her...... and she really scared me. Her stomach never feeling full. For the duration of almost 4 hours, she non stop throwing all the food into her stomach. I'm so scared... scared that she might feel sick of too full. Surprisingly, after the dinner, on our way back home, she told us that she is not so full and still can makan some more... OMG!! Really 又出钱, 又出命!! Geng!!

Lots of people commented negatively on Shogun but for me, I think for this range of pricing, the food is considered reasonable and I might consider to have lunch there one fine day, may be on CNY.

Thanks Alice for the treat!!

New Year Eve Lunch @ Station 1, Kuchai Lama

I had my lunch at Station 1, Kuchai Lama yesterday. I'm not really sure whether this is my 1st or second visit to the mentioned place coz that's quite a lot of cafe with the same concept and similar design layout in Kuchai Lama. I had my lunch with Foong Ee, Mishaal and Joey. Yaaaa, is quite a special combination.. I think this is my second time to have lunch with Mishaal, different department maa, not as close as colleagues from my department lo.

I think there is nothing to shout about on the food here. No '招牌菜' is recommended by them. So we just simply ordered some ala-carte. Not sure about what they guys ordered but for me, I opted for their set lunch namely 炸酱面, lemon plum juice and soup of the day. Nothing much to comment coz it is not too special for me.

Recently I observed something..... I feel that Mishaal has change her attitude a lot. She manages to control her emotion. I still remember she was a bad tempered girl last time. I quarrelled with her for times in working matter. It is a good change and is a good news to everyone!! Or else.... I think it is really impossible for me to sit comfortably to have lunch with her lo...

Set lunch @ Chili Padi (Again)

As some of my colleagues never try the food at Chili Padi Restaurant before, I decided to hit the place, to take the risk again after my terrible and unforgettable previous visit there.(Check out my previous post for that unforgettable memory). This time again, I opted for today's set lunch which is western fried mee hoon (Can't really recall the exact name).

To my surprise, this time the food is great. Not too spicy. The mee hoon itself is Malay style but the 'accessories' are of western style. Not bad, not bad. Colleagues were ordering Nasi Lemak and Nasi Bonjari with ABC. The ABC portion is really superb. 4 of us are unable to finish the 2 bowl of ABC. Anyway, everybody are super full after this great lunch.

My confidence to Chili Padi Restaurant is re-built. My phobia towards its food is gone. I'll be back!!

Cheng & Co.'s Klang Branch

I was at the Klang branch to conduct an audit work two days back. This was my first visit to the mentioned place. In my mind, I always think that Klang branch should be a super tiny type of workplace coz our Company's HQ office is at Kuchai Lama and Klang branch is located not too far from the HQ. A bit pointless to set up a branch there.

When I reached there, to my surprise, the office, the design, the environment...... all are very presentable. Never think of the Klang branch looked so nice le... It is quite big also. Below shows the conference room of the branch. So , the rest of the place, I'll leave it to your imagination !!

Had Bak Kut Teh as lunch on the same day. It was quite some times since my last visit to Klang's Bak Kut Teh. Anyway I'm not a big fan of Bak Kut Teh and so there is nothing much I can comment about on the lunch. Just since it is the nearest restaurant from Klang branch, we choose this place for lunch lo. No other reason.... The lunch cost me RM10.50. What do you think? Is it reasonable or too costly?

This is what I ordered for my lunch!!

麻辣板面 @ Chili Padi

It's quite long since my last visit to Chili Padi. Actually we have no intention at all to have lunch out there but since it is the nearest restaurant from my client's place with free wifi service, we decided to have our lunch there.

The set lunch of the day is 麻辣板面. I ordered it. And I can say ... I'm super super regret with my decision. The food is super super spicy.... the only phrase that I manage to think out to describe this food is '辣到飞起'.... Everything is in spicy. Noodle in spicy, soup in spicy, vege in spicy, seafood in spicy etc..... Never try, never know. Once try, now I know. Conclusion : this is my 1st and it's definitely also my last time to eat it!! Regret and regret and regret!! It's too spicy for me!!!!!

茗香- 古城金黄鸡饭粒 of Kuchai Lama

Went to have lunch at the mentioned shop with my colleague 2 days back, which was also one day after its grand opening. Our attendance is not due to positive review or any friend's recommendation, the reason for our visit is very simple... we saw the advertisement banner showing that they are having a special promotion of RM4.00 for 2 weeks due to its grand opening.

It's kinda cheap, no doubt. We have no reason to refuse. Both of us ordered the chicken rice. We waited for quite long before being served. Please don't misunderstand it. Again it's not because of too many customers out there but just merely the shop still don't have an organised system to serve the customer plus the staff also abit kelam-kabut when serving us. Hahaha..... You guys should try it then you'll get what I mean after that try.

Regarding the food..... taste wise is Okay. No problem at all. But just the portion is too small for my lunch.

Banana Leaf Rice

This is the first time I joined my Company's senior partner, Dr Paul Cheng and other colleagues to have banana leaf rice as lunch. Dr Paul was so kind enough to treat us all of around 18 persons.

During the lunch session....

Dr Paul : Hey, Nicole. This is the first time you join us for banana leaf rice during lunch hour, very good!!
Nicole : Yes, Dr Paul. This is the first time I have my lunch here. It tastes great.
Dr Paul : Next time you should join us more, Okay?
Nicole : Sure. Thanks for the lunch.
Dr Paul : Very good.

Wonder why I seldom join them for lunch? Not because of I'm too busy or I don't like banana leaf rice. The actual reason is that I'm not invited to the lunch all the time. Even this time, I'm also not invited. But my colleague, Mishaal, she is so kind enough to put my name on the list. Meaning, I'm actually invited by Mishaal rather than by Dr. Paul, sighhhhh!!!

Anyway, let's talk about the food.... The food is good according to Dr. Paul and other colleagues but as for me, I think is too spicy until my stomach not feeling well after that. Hahaha!! By the way, I also ordered iced lime juice to contra the 'spiciness' of the food... Really too hot and spicy for me.

Baba Nyonya Seafood Restaurant @ Nilai

Went to conduct an annual statutory audit at Nilai on last Thursday and Friday. The client brought our team to have lunch at this mentioned restaurant. It was a big crowd during the lunch hour. This is actually my first time to try the Baba Nyonya style food. It is delicious indeed. Must try other dishes next time.

Let's feasting!!

The restaurant's signature Nyonya Fish... too spicy for me!!

Fried squids... 'must try' item.... my favourite!!

Nyonya style mix vegetables.... Not bad le

Soup of the day......
