1st Day of CNY for the Year of OX

I turned a year order according to the Chinese Lunar Calender yesterday. I was born on the 1st day of CNY 20+ years back and that's the reason why I claimed the 1st statement in this blog. But all this while not much person knowing about my birthday according to the Chinese Lunar Calender. Anyway my family know it and they remember it. Frankly speaking they hardly remember my birthday for Gregorian Calender.. *sob sob* ... For sure, to them, my birthday for Chinese Lunar Calendar is a lot more easier to be remembered.

Since it was the 1st day of CNY, no grand celebration is held and of coz I didn't need any as well. I've lunch with my family. Everyone wished me 'Happy Birthday!!'. My sisters bought me a cake from Secret Recipe.. Yeah, is my favourite, Chocolate Indulgence again. Good for my sister also as she just recovered from chickenpox and she can only have cake without nuts and this Chocolate Indulgence just came in time!!

As a tradition, my parents prepared some red eggs for me.... I always feel that red egg is such a charming way to celebrate my birthday. This is the present I received from them every year. My birthday always meant a lot to me. I should be the one to buy something for my mom instead, as 20+ years back, this is the day where my mom sacrificed her Chinese new year celebration and delivered a little baby girl in hospital.....

And I always feel good and warm when my family members celebrate my birthday for me!!

My Birthday Cake... No message is written but I'm fine with that!! Hehehe....

Angpao from Cheng & Co.

Received Cheng & Co.'s angpao before my CNY days off work yesterday. The monetary value is the same, RM20.00 since few years back but the thickness is difference.... The angpao packet seems not so attractive for me coz it implies that Company wishes us to work like an 'ox'.....!!

珠光宝气之夜4

I'm not sure whether I am lucky or not lucky enough as during the annual dinner, I got a hamper from lucky draw session. The hamper is the one bought from Carrefour at RM38. I think is better than nothing laa. The grand prize is a Canon Printer. Can you imagine?? Grand prize!!.. So cheap, right??

If compared with the grand prize, then I felt better. At least now CNY is just around the corner and I can give this hamper as gift to relative lo. I always print everything that is need in office. Now, with this hamper, at least I can save RM38.00 in CNY preparation lo... Hahaha.....

For audit department, Joey and Lai Chern got a computer games, sponsored by our client, Sendi Mutiara Multimedia, from the lucky draw. SMM was audited by them.... this is fate, I think. Mr Liew and Ms Chua each got a ticket for Disney on Ice, from the lucky draw. Good for them as they can go for the show together.....hehe. This is the 1st time I heard about only ONE ticket is giving out for each lucky draw. Most of the time, tickets always come in pairs. What a stingy arrangement!! I think that's all for audit department......

So lucky that none of us got the collagen sponsored by Mr Chua and none of us got the Book of 'Crime Prevention', which is kept in our Company's store for years. For Cheng & Co., lucky draw always considered as time to clean out the rubbish from our store...... :(

珠光宝气之夜3

After 3 years of not joining the Company's annual dinner, I finally decided to join it this year. There are two main reason to support my decision. Firstly, the dinner was held at KL and secondly, I'm forced to go on stage to receive a so called 'Best Team Leader' Award.... *paiseh paiseh* Really have no idea what's the criteria to choose the 'Best Team Leader'.

As usual during the annual dinner, there would be awards presentation session. Cheng & Co. proudly presented the 7 years Long Service Award to Ms Poo of Secretarial Department whereas 10 years Long Service Award to Ms Wong of Ipoh Branch. They were presented a souvenir and RM500 and RM1,000 respectively. Surprisingly, the other firm, Poor Ooi & Co. have the same awards presentation session. Guess what?? They have more than 10 people on stage to receive the 7 years Long Service Award and they have around 20 staffs there to receive the 10 years Long Service Award... So loyal, really kinda 'kua jiong' le!!

After this, would be the time to present the award for best Cheng & Co. performer for 2008. Koh from Cheng & Partner is awarded the 'Best Team Member' Award and from the screen there, I noticed that my turn is after Koh to go on stage to receive the earlier mentioned award. When I was in stand-by mode next to the stage, I heard that the MC invited Madam Tung of Ipoh Branch, to go on stage to receive the 'Best HOD' Award.....

Then, where is my award?? Ok, fine.... I think they missed out mine... so I quietly walked back to my table to continue my dinner. All in a sudden, the MC announced my name and invited me to receive the 'Best Team Leader' Award.... Me again, have to walk straight headed to the stage to receive my award lo. Really 'play thing' meh, the MC really made me kelam-kabut only.

Dr Paul was the one to present the award to me. Good for me laa as Dr. Paul is the shortest Partner in Cheng & Co. and I'm the shortest staff of Cheng & Co. Good for the photographer also as he don't have to adjust his camera much to capture both of our face into the photo. If Giant Chua was the one to present the award then everybody would felt uncomfortable, for sure .... Hehe.

Upon stepping off the stage, Yann San told me that I was holding Madam Tung's souvenir coz they actually wrongly presented mine to Madam Tung and Yann San is so nice to help me to exchange back our souvenir. The souvenir is just a piece of plastic with my name printed on it. Nothing much... No cash!!

Lots of people asking how much am I receiving for 'Best Team Leader' Award. I told them I only have a souvenir and no money is involved. Unfortunately, most of them didn't trust me. They thought I purposely don't wanna tell them about the money. Hello... my dear, this is Cheng & Co., what do u guys expect?? Lots of rumor among colleagues... lots of rumors among clients as clients also invited to our annual dinner. They asked and asked and asking me how much I am awarded..... They seems didn't believe that I got nothing except the souvenir.

I didn't defence much. They didn't believe because according to them, the best dress for the night got RM200 as appreciation. They looked great for 1 day and awarded RM200 and I worked like a cow, or even worse than a cow for 1 whole year and I'm not awarded for any $$. The point is there...... but this is Cheng & Co.

At this point of time, I think only Fish Leong, 梁静茹 can understand my feeling. The lyric from 勇气really best suited my feeling and the lyric really is my 得奖感言......

The lyric says...... "Haiz... 真的需要勇气来面对流言蜚语,只要你一个$$肯定,我的'haiz....'就有意义...."
I swear... I didn't receive a single cent for such award, Trust me!! Despite the money matter, I am so thankful to all you guys for your warm congratulatory greetings!!!
My only souvenir for the award.......

珠光宝气之夜2

Let's tell you guys about the food on the annual dinner night....

1. Simple and cold 三熱葷, instead of 四熱葷.
2. Scallop soup instead of shark fin...... Hahaha
3. Roasted chicken
4. Steamed fish, not sure about what fish is that.... but i'm sure is not cod fish and I personally felt that the fish was not fresh enough!!
5. Sambal Prawn..... with the prawn of the size of my little finger, terrible... but luckily is yummylicious!!
6. Disappointing normal green vege instead of 罗汉斋
7. Tasteless fried rice
8. Iced Sea Coconut as dessert

That's all for the night and heard each table is charged RM870.00. No red wine is served. Just feel that the dishes are too common...... speechless!! Once compared, I'm so missing the dinner at Shogun a night before the annual dinner.. :(

珠光宝气之夜 1

January 9, 2009 marked a historical night for Cheng & Co. It was our Company's annual dinner night. But the said day was also our working day. We are forced to work until 4.30pm and after that immediately headed towards Prince Hotel, 5 stars hotel located opposite Pavillion.

The theme for the night was 'Firm of Future'. I was expecting some hi-tech designed of dress code but surprisingly, nobody cares about the theme of the night. Everyone looked elegance in dressing and everyone is way on 珠光宝气..... except me who is wearing as casual as usual!!

Before the dinner, a simple MOU signing ceremony is held here to witness the collaboration of Poor Ooi & Co. with Cheng & Co. The signing ceremony was held during the cocktail session. I didn't really watch through the ceremony there as I'm busy collecting my door gift and lucky number for lucky draw session.

The dinner was started at 7.30pm sharp. Mr Chua kicks start the night with his welcoming speech as usual, followed by speech by Mr Poor from Poor Ooi and Co. After the super boring speech giving session, the dinner started and the performance is on.

First performance was 二十四节铃鼓 presented by Choong Wen Primary School. The kids are cute but they seems a bit shy to face the public. They just kept staring on the floor or staring at their gang, that's it!! Guess they are forced to do such performance.

Secondly was belly dance performance by a girl from Choong Wen also. Upon the starting of the dance, some technical problem occurred and the music can't be played. The poor girl stoned there and hold with a belly dancer pose for more than 10 minutes. Luckily there was a lady, I think is her coach, instructed the little girl to go off the stage at the meantime of waiting. Who knows, all of a sudden the music resumed, the poor little girl heard the music, ran and jumped up to the stage, started the dance immediately..... So worry that the girl acted too 'gan jeong' upon listening the music, shoot up to the stage and fall down. Luckily no unhappy thing was happened and the little girl did a great performance.

The last performance from Choong Wen Primary School was Peacock Dance. I didn't really watched this performance as I was too busy to wallop my food... Too hungry maa!!

After that, the staffs from Poor Ooi & Co. presented a dancing show. They presented 3 dances. The 1st dance was a Malay style dance with Hip-hop solo. 2ndly was Chinese dance with handkerchief as the dancing tools, sort of that laa... together with a CNY song, damn funny and the 3rd dance of coz was Indian dance laa. More than 30 staffs were involved in the performance. I noticed something during their performance..... Guess what, only 1 Indian guy enjoyed doing the performance. The rest of them should be forced to do it, I guess. Coz he is the only one who smiles cheerfully during the performance. The rest of them were showing a black and bitter face.... like the audience killed their family like that... so terrible!!

Cheng & Co. presented 2 performance. 1stly was a piano session by Mr Chua's daughter and she is only Standard 2. But at least better lo..... different type of performance. Last time she always sings the same song only ... until I also can remember the lyrics liao.. "you are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy......" This time, piano performance!!Gorgeous!!

2nd performance from our Company was choir. I think I don't wanna comment much on this performance as its presented by my beloved colleagues. Generally, they did a good show, I think!!! I somehow feel that I'm so lucky. Luckily I'm too old to particapate as one of the perfomer in annual dinner or else sure spoil the whole mood and environment of the day...... Hehehe>>>>>> Just let the youngster to show their bestto the world!!! I'm happy with that!!

Dinner @ Shogun of Sunway Pyramid

Last Thursday was not anybody's birthday and there was nothing special to celebrate also. But our beloved client Alice, who is also my neighbour gave my colleague and I, a generous treat at Shogun of Sunway Pyramid.

We planned to go Tenji at Mont' Kiara initially but after checking the dinner pricing, we decided to have our dinner here as Tenji is charging around RM88++ whereas Shogun is charging RM58++. Both also Japanese buffet restaurant and i never been to any of it as I'm not a big fan of japanese buffet. Anyway since Alice insisted to treat us, must give her face also. After office hour, we straight away headed to the said restaurant.

From my personal point of view, it is a nice place to have dinner. The environment is comfortable. A variety choices of food are served here. My favourite would be their tempura... taste good!! Yummy yummy!! The rest of food also not bad. Alice commented that I ate less. In fact I purposely ate porridge as my lunch in order for me to eat more for dinner. But... she still said I ate less lo. What to do...... my stomach too small for buffet maa.

We have a great chat there. Nice chatting with her...... and she really scared me. Her stomach never feeling full. For the duration of almost 4 hours, she non stop throwing all the food into her stomach. I'm so scared... scared that she might feel sick of too full. Surprisingly, after the dinner, on our way back home, she told us that she is not so full and still can makan some more... OMG!! Really 又出钱, 又出命!! Geng!!

Lots of people commented negatively on Shogun but for me, I think for this range of pricing, the food is considered reasonable and I might consider to have lunch there one fine day, may be on CNY.

Thanks Alice for the treat!!

I luv' S.H.E

Went to shopping at Sungei Wang with my youngest sister today and got to know that S.H.E was holding a concert as part of their Malaysia Promo Tour activities to promote their new album at Sungei Wang itself. It would be a short duration concert of 4 songs presenting altogether with sort of signature session for those who bought their latest album.

I was not a big fan of them but ever since my sister love them very much, so we went to 4th floor of Sungei Wang to watch the show. The concert started at 8.00pm sharp... very punctual. Three of them super powerful. They are really superstar. It was really a great show. They are not only good in singing and seems that they are good in presenting themselves on the stage. All those youngsters with idolism mindset, shouted, shouted and shouted!!! Cool!!

Now I understand why this kind of promo activity is important. It is really effective in advertising and giving chance to the performers to show up their talents. Why I said so??? Coz after watching the mentioned show, they are now my best favourite!! A big jump to the 1st place on list of favourite!! Hahaha.....
Good show>>>>>

New Year Eve

Everyone were heading to countdown parties on the New Year Eve. I don't like to join this kind of cuntdown event.... Everywhere were jammed, by people and by cars. Again to mention, I don't like crowd... Hehe!!

After office hour, I headed to Myfitness for my New Year Eve workout alone. My elder sister is still suffering from chickenpox whereas my youngest sister was working overtime in office. Upon reaching the gym, observed that not much members were there. Understood la, it was New Year Eve maa, sure everyone went to countdown lo.

Warmed and started up with 30 minutes of jogging on the treadmill. Actually I don't really like to workout using the machine there personally coz would feel bored easily. But no choice lo, since it was New Year Eve, I think better to warm up a bit at least, so that even if later the GX instructor would like to call off the class, I would be fine with her decision also.

There was only 2 members in the studio, including me but the instructor insist to teach... most likely she felt guilty to cause the class cancelled in the previous week gua!! We did the latest BJ47. Everytime when the members is less than 5 in a particular class, I always feel very tiring during the workout session. I just 'feel' that the instructor kept staring at me. Of coz in actual fact, nobody is staring at me la, I just pychologically feel it and end up dare not to 'curi ayam' during the workout.... weird!! Really don't understand why I have such weird mindset. The good side is I'll woorkout more but the bad side is I feel the stress during the workout... Haha!!

New Year Eve Lunch @ Station 1, Kuchai Lama

I had my lunch at Station 1, Kuchai Lama yesterday. I'm not really sure whether this is my 1st or second visit to the mentioned place coz that's quite a lot of cafe with the same concept and similar design layout in Kuchai Lama. I had my lunch with Foong Ee, Mishaal and Joey. Yaaaa, is quite a special combination.. I think this is my second time to have lunch with Mishaal, different department maa, not as close as colleagues from my department lo.

I think there is nothing to shout about on the food here. No '招牌菜' is recommended by them. So we just simply ordered some ala-carte. Not sure about what they guys ordered but for me, I opted for their set lunch namely 炸酱面, lemon plum juice and soup of the day. Nothing much to comment coz it is not too special for me.

Recently I observed something..... I feel that Mishaal has change her attitude a lot. She manages to control her emotion. I still remember she was a bad tempered girl last time. I quarrelled with her for times in working matter. It is a good change and is a good news to everyone!! Or else.... I think it is really impossible for me to sit comfortably to have lunch with her lo...
